Someone driving you crazy?

"Feelings are not facts"

There are some people you have to deal with in life that will just annoy the crap out of you. I can think of a few…

It may be someone you work with, a relative, someone in public such as a customer. Anything they say or do makes your jaw clench. Your anxiety levels rocket. It takes everything in you from not bursting out and lashing at them for their completely ridiculous behaviour. But maybe there's a different approach. A way of thinking that can aid anxiety. One way that I hadn't really thought of until coming across the following article today: "How to Deal With People Who Are Driving You Nuts" by Ally Hamilton.

Important messages I got from this article:

"If someone says something thoughtless or hurtful, you don't have to allow it to absorb hours of your time. Maybe they're having a tough day. Maybe they cried themselves to sleep in their pillow last night. Maybe their kid was vomiting until all hours of the morning and they didn't get any sleep. Maybe someone they love is dying and they feel helpless in the face of that."

"When you create a little space between an event and how you respond to it, you put yourself in the power seat."

"You don't have to believe everything you think."

Overall messages I took from this article: Be mindful of the possibility that this person may have something serious going on that you're not aware of. You do not have to let something bother you. You are in contrail of your thoughts/reactions. Breathe through it. Send the other person a blast of positive, radiant vibes. A reaction is a result of something that has happened in our past. Recognize it, then let it go.

View Ally's video at the bottom of the article for a seated meditation practice. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Until next time…my lovely readers.
